More on trips

Our annual working trip.
Each year the Landcare Group organises an annual getaway usually around September to November. This is a chance for our group to contribute to environmental work in another region while at the same time exploring and enjoying ourselves. Over the most recent years we have assisted and carried out work with National Parks at Mount Remarkable, the Coorong and Brookfield Conservation Park. There have also been trips to Gluepot Bird Sanctuary and our latest weekend away was on 200 acres of Heritage listed bushland in the stunning Beetaloo Valley in the Southern Flinders Ranges. We take on projects guided by the land managers. These often involve control of a particular weed but can also be track maintenance, survey work, planting, habitat restoration or any other job needing attention. Some accommodation is usually provided with general amenities, plus some like to bring their own caravans, campervans or tents. Families are very welcome. Landcare projects are targeted and carried out on Saturday and Sunday morning for a few hours leaving plenty of free time to enjoy. KLG trips provide an opportunity for members to socialise while keeping a strong underlying focus on helping the environment. It’s a great weekend shared with friends.
